The maintenance section of this guide contains procedures for recurring maintenance work such as upgrades, infrastructure version changes, and operational configuration updates.
- Enable verbose truncation warnings: Enable SQL Server Trace Flag 460 for NBS 7 to surface detailed error messages for diagnosing data truncation errors.
- Update the Kubernetes control plane: Use Terraform to upgrade the Kubernetes version for the control plane and nodes of your NBS 7 cluster.
- Back up and restore on Amazon RDS: Use the Amazon RDS stored procedures to back up and restore SQL Server databases, including restoring RDB under a new name for RTR.
Additional maintenance procedures are added to this section as they are documented. If the procedure you need is not yet covered here, contact nbs@cdc.gov.
